We got a rare storm that brought in snow overnight. The boys are out at 6:00 am making snowmen! It's hard to get pics when they're too excited to stay still. And no, Drew doesn't own pants-usually not needed in Texas! :-)

A Very Skylanders Holiday

Drew wanted me to show what he has been up to during the break....SKYLANDERS!! Yep, Santa brought him the new Skylanders game for Wii. It comes with characters that you set on a portal..which are then transported into the game (something like that). ;-) Anyway, Drew has been obssessed! He had a friend sleepover this week and we went to SEVEN stores in San Angelo looking for a certain Skylander character (to add to the 14 he already had). Well, by that time all of the stores in San Angelo where sold out of Sylanders stuff. Even on-line sites are selling out! Pretty crazy!

New Year's Project

To keep Corey busy on his few days off for New Year's, I had him paint our bedroom. We chose a chocolate milk brown color (not what it was called, but exactly what it looks like!) It turned out well and looks really pretty with the reds. This was the only room that was still white! Hurray-we are done with our house projects!!!

So, we have a tradition of celebrating Luke's birthday on Christmas Eve...which included part of our San Antonio trip this year. He is enjoying a great birthday. I can't believe my baby is 7!

San Antonio Trip

We took a Christmas Eve-Eve trip to San Antonio. We stayed at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa north of San Antonio...which is AMAZING!! It is in a very upscale area of town near the temple. They have a water park out behind the hotel that the boys actually went to! It was actually pretty chilly for Texas (in the 40's). They talked Dad into going down the water-slides (a few times before he dashed for the hot tub!) We enjoyed relaxing at the hotel. They had gorgeous Christmas decorations including a huge tree and a gingerbread village with a Fullmer Barn look-a-like! We also enjoyed driving around the area to see the temple...it was beautiful!

We are enjoying a visit from Grandpa Barry and Grandma Chris for Thanksgiving. They drove down from Wyoming and arrived today. We grilled hamburgers, showed Grandpa and Grandma around town, went to the lily pad park and are just hanging out! The boys are really going to enjoy the next few days!

So, we went to our church's trunk-or-treating party tonight....Drew as Mario, Luke-Luigi, and me: Princess Peach! (I don't even really know who Princess Peach is...but the boys picked it out, I ordered the costume and ta-da we are Mario World.) The boys wanted Corey to be Bowser...but you can't quite picture that, can you? Anyway, Corey dressed up as "just Dad" and we had a fun evening. The boys are excited for their school party and trick-or-treating in our Santa Rita neighborhood is supposed to be out-of-this-world. We will have to see....and I will have to buy lots of candy!!!!

Luke lost his front tooth recently. It came out a little sooner than it probably would have because he fell off a bench and knocked his mouth up pretty good. I think he is so cute with his "gap", and his little lisp is pretty cute, too!

So this morning as I go out for my morning run, I realize that I had been forked!! Only this wasn't the average, high-school prank your teacher by forking their yard in the middle of the night trick....no, my students used forks, paper-plates,and cups to recreate the phosphate, deoxyribose, nitrogenous base pairing ladder of the DNA double helix. They even wrote on the cups and paired the adenine:thymine, cytosine:guanine correctly. We have been learning about nucleic acids in biology this week and had made the model with candy in class. I thought it was so cute...it put a big smile my face. I loved the chalk-note on my sidewalk, too! I love my life! :-)

Drew had to dress up crazy for some story-character day at school. He chose to dye his hair red and wear a reddish ensemble. It was so cute because the night before as he was trying to go to sleep he said, "Tomorrow is going to be great....I get to dress up, spend the day with friends, and learn lots of stuff. I am SOOOO happy!" It really touched my heart!

So, Corey and I were able to attend ANOTHER Air Force Ball. It was actually really fun. There was an 80 year man who was in the Air Force over 60 years ago and he was the guest speaker. He was hilarious! We had a nice dinner and got to meet some new people. It was nice to get a baby-sitter and go out for the night.

So, I am teaching at a private school, Ambleside, this year....and I LOVE IT!!!! My students are so good! I am teaching AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Pre-Calculus and Advanced Algebra. I have been blown away with how hard my students work and how dedicated they are. They look so great in their uniforms and are so polite.....I could go on and on and on. Anyway, I am really enjoying my teaching job!!!

I will be teaching high school math and science at a private school and don't start until Sept. 6th. We are excited for the new school year!

I had a great birthday today. I spent the day with the boys. We were able to go to their new school and meet their teachers for the new school year which starts Monday. We went to an afternoon movie and then to Outback for dinner once Corey was off work. The boys got me a cookie cake and insisted on putting exactly 35 candles on it....lots and lots of smoke!!! I am getting old, but have lots to be thankful for!

So, Texas has been under severe drought and heat advisories ever since we moved here. Everywhere you go in town, billboards say "Pray for Rain". Every Sunday people in church ask for rain in prayers and fasting. Well, I have to say that you have to be careful for what you ask for! We had some serious flash flooding this morning! We are happy for the moisture, though! Luke enjoyed playing in the puddles while Dad and Mom worked to clear gutters, divert major streams of water, and water pump pooling water on the patio. Drew????...somewhere playing video games as usual, with a "Rain? What rain?" when everyone made it back inside....funny kid.

San Antonio

We went to San Antonio this week with Corey for work. He had to meet with the legal office at Randolph AFB. We stayed downtown near the riverwalk. We had so much fun walking along the river and eating at a little Mexican restaurant. We even had the Mariachi band play for us. The pics are from Corey's phone, so not great...but we had a GREAT time!

We had a fun trip last weekend over to Austin, Texas for a little school shopping. We stayed at the super nice Renaissance Marriott in the Aboretum area of town. It was so beautiful with suprisingly more trees and hills than San Angelo. We had to stop in Brady, Texas for a pic for cousin Brady. The boys also loved this aquarium in our hotel.

The historic Fort Concho here in town had a little Cowboys Day celebration today. This picture is of the boys getting sworn in as "deputies" of San Angelo. The other festivites included bluegrass music, dutch-oven breakfast, and a skit with a cowboy shoot-out. The boys liked the shoot-out the best!

We have had fun exploring the pools in our area. Today we found a really fun one named Brown's Pool. It has fun slides, diving boards, tubes, as well as a park with bouncing houses, basketball, etc. We had a great time!

We went to a San Angelo Colts baseball game last night. We had a blast! The Colts made 6 home runs. The players collect a dollar from the fans when they make a home run, and this pic is of Drew handing one of the players a dollar. I had to buy a bike recently because the boys and I bike everywhere! We live in such a fun neighborhood to bike in. We can bike to the park, the river, the school, and many things downtown such as restaurants, the library,etc. These pics are also of the boys waiting outside for a ride. We enjoyed a fun holiday weekend. I forgot to take my camera to many of the places we went. On Thursday night we went to a San Angelo Colts baseball game, 2A baseball located here in San Angelo. It was so fun...we are planning to go to lots of the games! On Friday, we drove up to Abilene to go to the zoo. We enjoyed the drive and had fun at the little zoo there. The zoo was Luke's ideas...he loves zoos!! When we got home, Drew wanted to go swimming at the base. Drew is my little (well, big) fish, and he would live in water if I let him. This picture is of him, in between one of the hudreds of times he went down the water slide! We bought a grill on Saturday and have enjoyed grilling out ever since. We will definitely get our money's worth...it is too hot to cook in the kitchen! We enjoyed going to our new church for the first time, Sunday. It is a great ward....we are really going to love it! The city has big concert at the river stage every year for the fourth and we walked over there for awhile Sunday evening. We enjoyed listening to the community symphony and walking along the river. We went home for the fireworks, since we live downtown we could see them from our second floor terrace. On Monday morning, our church had a flag raising and pancake breakfast...it was fun. The city also had a big festival on Monday, but when we tried to go there were literally thousands of people, so we changed our mind and just went for ice cream. Once again, we were able to see those fireworks from our house! We had a great weekend! Corey starts work at the base today. He is excited to get to work! I'm sure he will be a great SJA. We are very proud of him!!

We have lots of parks in San Angelo. Our favorite is the one a mile from our house next to the river and golf course. The boys are having a blast riding their bikes over to the park, playing, and enjoying the scenes along the river on the way there and back. We have to go in the morning or evening or it is too hot, but it is beautiful!

Chris wanted to see a photo of the stairs in the house. I promise I will stop with the house photos and start posting more pics of the other things we have been up to in Texas so far! It has been super hot......108ish since we moved here. It hasn't been too bad, though, because we have been used to the South's humidity and this dry heat feels pretty good. We have enjoyed exploring our new town. San Angelo is a fun, family-friendly western town. It's super artsy with farmer's markets, craft fairs, lots of murals and sculptures. They also have a lot of rec activities with river sports, lake activities, etc. While Corey was gone we bought some fishing poles and ventured out to fish in the children's lagoon using kernels of corn as our friendly next door neighbor advised. We also planted a little garden, and our own corn has already started to grow. We have worked super hard in the yard getting it all cleaned up and greened up. Things are coming along nicely. The boys have enjoyed going to the swimming pools, new library, art museums, base activities, walks along the river trail, to the parks, and a few trips to the ice cream store when we felt like we were going to melt from the heat. Yes, we have been super busy so far and have only been here about a 1/2 month! We are loving it and having a great summer!

We made it to Texas Wednesday evening after a three day drive across Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. We moved into our home and absolutely love, love, love it! It is an older home, which we have never had...but it has so much character and charm. We are having fun setting it up and settling in. My crappy camera has been extra crappy lately, so I will post more pics when I get a better camera and when I have done more work on the house. While Barry was with us he remodeled one of the bathrooms, and I still get to paint it! Thanks Barry...I love it!

He was also able to go to Corey's ACSC ceremony. Corey is super happy his year of Air Command and Staff College is over!

Downtown Montgomery

We drove to downtown Montgomery Monday to go see The First White House of the Confederacy. It was closed because of Memorial Day, but we were able to see some beautiful buildings. Corey and the boys are standing in front of the state capitol and the boys are in front of the state archives building. We didn't stay outside too long....it has been HOT and HUMID this week!

Our boys woke us up at 4:30 am to see if Santa came!! Wow, they were excited! We had a fun morning together and were all done with gifts by 6:30...and I was completely exhausted. Christmas is all about the kids though, right???

The Holiday Birthday Boy!

Yes, Luke's birthday is really tomorrow on Christmas, but we have started a tradition of celebrating on Christmas Eve. We went to Chuck E. Cheese's and spent a few hours and a few hundred tokens on games and then went out to eat. Luke got to open his birthday presents and celebrate his 6th birthday with a TRON cake! Atlanta Thanksgiving Trip!

For Thanksgiving, we went on a family trip to Atlanta. We stayed in a Marriott in the Buckhead area. It was so beautiful! We enjoyed being together and had a great time!

They boys loved this gigantic gingerbread house in the lobby of the hotel. Corey had to be goofy and pretend he was going to eat it!

On Wednesday night, we went the a Detroit Red Wings/Atlanta Thrashers hockey game. We cheered for the Red Wings of course.....(the Michigan thing). We thought we were in for a certain win with Detroit being ranked number one in the league....but they lost 5-1! We still had a a great time at the game, though!

The boys enjoyed swimming in the hotel pool several times during our trip. It was outside, but they didn't care! Thanksgiving day ended up being very nice...sunny and in the high 70's!

We enjoyed eating meals at our Marriott hotel, and also enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in a hotel nearby. We couldn't wait until the Marriott's Thanksgiving dinner because it started at 5:00 (the Cowboys were playing!).

On Thanksgiving morning, we went to Georgia Aquarium, the US's largest aquarium. It was awesome! The kids loved it! We especially liked the beluga whales.

On Thanksgiving night, we went back to the outside pool! It was amazing to me that we were swimming outside on Thanksgiving...definitely not Wyoming! We had to cheer Corey up after a disappointing 30-27 Cowboys loss against the Saints.

Early Christmas!

Today is the first day of our 9 day Thanksgiving break. The boys were all ready to set up the Christmas tree. We had fun putting it up and decorating it....unfortunately it got hot enough we had to turn the air conditioning on. Something's just not quite right when you have to turn on the AC when decorating for Christmas...hhhmmmmmmm!

Veterans' Day

We went over to West Point, Mississippi this weekend for Drew to be able to see his old friend Jaden. We stayed at a hotel and Drew spent the night with Jaden's family. He was so excited to see Jaden, since he was Drew's best friend in K4 and kindergarten. We had fun driving past our old house, Oak Hill Academy and the base in Columbus....a few things have changed, but mostly it is the same. I never thought I would be back in West Point, Mississippi!!

We had a fun week at school. The teachers all dressed up today. I dressed up as a guitar again. Our two science teachers were Mario and Luigi. It was so great!! The boys will go trick or treating on Saturday and I will post of some fun pics of them tomorrow.

Grandma Amy

We are enjoying a nice visit with Grandma Amy this weekend. She flew into Birmingham Friday night. We enjoyed staying over night (just Jennie and Mom) and had fun shopping in Birmingham Saturday morning and then going back to see the boys back home for the rest of the day. We took Grandma Amy to Bass Pro Shops for lunch (the fish restaurant inside Bass Pro Shops). We are enjoying a nice Sunday, with church this morning and a Grandma Amy cooked homemade lunch! The boys have fall break Monday and Tuesday from school and then I will take Grandma back to the airport on Tuesday. It is so fun to have her visit!

I had a great time this week helping plan and put together homecoming since I am doing student council again this year. Ms. Thomas and I spent hours getting the dance all planned and putting together homecoming royalty. It was a lot of work...but fun!

Girls' Trip!

I enjoyed a fun trip to SLC this weekend to be with my sisters and my mom. We enjoyed celebrating Megan's 30th birthday and were able to attend the temple, General Women's Conference, and The Sounds of Sunday. We also went shopping at the Gateway and ate at yummy restaurants. We were able to see my dad and Jared after they came up from the BYU football game. We had a great time!

Labor Day

We are enjoying a Labor Day visit from Grandpa Barry and Grandma Chris. We enjoyed going to the Montgomery Zoo this morning and then eating out at Bass Pro Shops (they have a cool seafood restaurant attached to the big Cabellas type store.) Of course we had to be back home in time to watch BYU football tonight. We will enjoy church tomorrow and Barry and Chris will be back on the road Monday. It is so good to spend time with them! We are so grateful they took the time to come see us. The boys really enjoy their Grandpa and Grandma.

Birthday!

I had a wonderful 34th birthday! I enjoyed the school day (and had the entire middle school cafeteria sing to me!!)) I then came home to my sweet boys and we enjoyed eating out and having cake at home. I got just what I asked for: Black Dress Barbies and some new perfume!!! Thanks everyone, also, for the nice cards, phone calls, and facebook messages!!

Luke started kindergarten today! He is such a big boy...he rode the bus and everything!!! Oh...I am going to start crying again (my baby is in kindergarten!!!)

Drew and I started school today. Drew is in the 3rd grade this year. I am teaching 7th/8th grade math. Luke will start kindergarten on Wednesday. We had a great day!!

Here are a few photos before church. We have a large ward made up of a lot of military families..the primary is huge!! We also remembered on our drive to church how you can actually tell that it is Sunday in the South...because almost everyone goes to church!!

Alabama!

We made it to Alabama on Tuesday! We are living in a little suburb of Montgomery named Millbrook. It is beautiful and we love our house. We took this week to set up the house, we will get ready for school next week, and then the whole family will start school the first week in August. Corey was selected to attend Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Airforce Base as his job for the year. I will be teaching math at a middle school in Marbury. Drew will be in third grade and Luke in kindergarten. We are excited for our time back down in the South!!! More pics of the inside of the house....

The movers came on Thursday and we pretty had everything unpacked that day, and furniture, pictures, and curtains set up on Friday, and TV and internet installed on Saturday! We definitely have this moving thing down after our various adventures (I counted up that this is our 9th move in 12 years of our marriage!) Anyway, we took time Saturday night to take in a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game. It was fun, but we were so hot....just dripping sweat at 8:30 pm at night!! We will have to get used to all this humidity, again!

The Move

For our move out to Alabama we decided to stay south this time (since our move from Mississippi to New Mexico 2 years ago was more North through Dallas). We drove down to El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, Baton Rouge, Mobile, and then up to Montgomery. Everything went smoothly and we enjoyed the trip along the way.
The countdown to our big road trip for the boys was how many more days until they got to open Grandma Chris's package. She sent travel kits she put together for each of the boys. They were pretty excited to finally get to open them at the base hotel in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Luke has been pretty attached to me since the beginning of our move....with all the changes he wants to make sure that his mommy isn't out of his sight (or reach) for one second!!

Of course an El Paso stop (once in Texas) was matching Cowboys hats for the boys.

Luke says "More chicken nuggets????" Yes, unfortunately a staple on a long, road-trip move.

We stayed at a cool Marriott in San Antonio with an indoor water fall and fountain.

We enjoyed a late night dinner at Cheesecake Factory in Houston near the Galleria Mall (4th largest mall in America....oh yeah!!!)

We met Corey's Uncle and Aunt (Rich and Linda) and cousins (Toby and Jessica) at Landry's Aquarium and Restaurant. We were happy to see someone we knew in such a big city and the kids loved the aquarium themed restaurant.

We stayed at the Marriott Battle House Hotel in Mobile. It is a 1850's rebuilt hotel in downtown. It was AWESOME!!!

The hotel had a roof top pool next to a huge office buiding. The kids loved it!

Still in New Mexico

So, we spent half the summer waiting in New Mexico for our move to Alabama. This included lots of wait time that we spent on various activities.

We visited Roswell, New Mexico before we left to see all the alien hoopla. The alien stuff was pretty cool....we didn't see any real aliens, but the little town of Roswell sure had a lot of flies for some reason. Here is Drew shooting at all the flies with his water gun (I'm not sure he got any, but he sure hit my toes in this shot!!).

Space Camp!

Drew has the opportunity to attend many summer camps here in Alamogordo this summer before we move. This week he attended Space Camp. The last day of the camp was celebrated with launching the rockets they built during part of the week. Drew LOVED every minute!

Albuquerque!

Whew...school is over!!! We kicked off the start of our summer with a 3 day trip to Albuquerque. We stayed at the Marriott Pyramid Hotel, spent a day at the Albuquerque's zoo/aquarium, went to Prince of Persia,went swimming, and ate at lots of yummy restaurants.

A cool thing about the Rio Grande Zoo were all the peacocks out in the open. We almost ran into this beautiful peacock before we realized it was real!!

My favorite part of the zoo was the polar bear...so beautiful and so BIG!

We rode a train that connected the zoo and aquarium. Corey loved the sharks at the aquarium. Well, I should say he has a love/hate relationship with the ocean creatures!

We ate some good food on our trip. Here we are at Fuddruckers...with Luke checking out the pirate.

We had a very fun trip. It was fun to spend time together. We have about 7 weeks left in New Mexico before we are off to Alabama. The boys are in summer day camps and I am spending the time getting ready for our move (and recuperating from a year of teaching!!!)

Spring Break

For Spring Break this year, we ventured up to Wyoming for Drew's baptism. We had a wonderful week. We were able to visit with family, decorate Easter eggs, and the boys went out on the sled with Grandpa Jim.

Grandma's 91st Birthday!

While we were in Wyoming we celebrated Grandma Marge's 91st birthday. The girls got to go out to lunch with her and her sister, Mary. We also enjoyed a fun celebration with all the kids at Gina's.

Yes, Corey turned 40 on March 1st. I can't believe I am married to such an old man...ha, ha. He wanted to go to El Paso for the weekend. We went to the zoo, and visited our favorite seals. We also saw this huge turtle eating a watermelon. The kids also soaked up a little sun....hmm, a new exhibit at the zoo?

Corey was selected a Field Grade Officer of the year again this year! We were able to attend the big awards banquet. I had fun getting all dressed up again. I was really proud of Corey and his wonderful accomplishments!

We enjoyed a road trip to El Paso after celebrating Christmas morning at home. We enjoyed staying at the Marriott, swimming, shopping, going to movies, taking the kids to the zoo and enjoying some good food!

Yep, a rare snow day for us! School was canceled! Ha! I can't believe I grew up in Wyoming and went to school every single day in the snow. People down here are whimps. I guess it is quite a change from the sunny desert days we are used to (the White Sands photos below were less than a week ago!!!)
